FAQs

For our Residents:

What clothing should I bring to JCMCF?

We recommend bringing a week’s worth of clothing. Laundry service is provided at no additional charge. Our Laundry Team picks up your laundry and delivers it back to your room fresh and clean within 48 hours. Clothing needs to be machine washable. Personal clothing items need to be turned into the Front Desk for discrete labeling. We want to do our best to protect your clothing! You are welcome to send your laundry home with family, also. Your personal preference will be honored.

What toiletries should I bring to JCMCF?

No toiletries are necessary as JCMCF provides the full spectrum of personal care and hygiene products. However, if you have a special preference for specific items, you are welcome to bring them to JCMCF. Many of our Elders enjoy having their personal makeup on hand. We recommend labeling your personal items.

What if I have an appointment outside of JCMCF?

Appointments may be scheduled by your Health Unit Coordinator (we refer to them as ‘HUCs’). They are happy to make all medical appointments. We ask that family members accompany you to outside appointments if possible. This helps our families get information first hand and provides security for our Residents.

Can I have mail forwarded here to JCMCF?

Yes; mail is delivered and picked up from JCMCF six days a week. Your mailing address is:

Jackson County Medical Care Facility

Attention: (Your name)

524 Lansing Avenue

Jackson, MI 49201

The Activities Team delivers the mail and newspaper (if arranged) daily to your room. There is a drop-off box for mail located in the Main Dining Room. Stamps may be purchased at the Front Desk.

Can I have a personal phone?

Yes. You are responsible for contacting the phone company for installation. Installation costs approximately $75. We recommend a cell phone - especially for short stays. Facility phones are available for Resident use. If you desire to use the phone in a private space, please ask your Nurse for assistance.

Can I order food to be delivered to JCMCF?

Yes, you can! Your delivery address is:

Jackson County Medical Care Facility

524 Lansing Avenue

Jackson, MI 49201

Please inform your Nurse of a planned delivery. You are responsible for all charges/costs. Food deliveries will arrive at the Front Desk in the Lobby.

Vending machines are located on the first floor in the CarePartner Break Room. Fountain soda is located near the Main Dining Room and is complimentary. JCMCF serves Coca-Cola products.

Please note that our Kitchen is staffed 23 hours a day and that items may be ordered from there.

I need to use an extension cord.

The Life Safety Code does not permit the use of extension cords in the nursing home setting. Power strips may be used but only if mounted and secured to the wall. If you do not have enough electrical access in your room, please inform your Neighborhood Manager. They will contact our Maintenance Team who will meet with you and determine the best solution.

Please note: Heating pads and electric blankets/throws are not permitted at JCMCF.

Can my pet visit me while I am at JCMCF?

JCMCF has a detailed Animal Visitation policy. Please ask the Front Desk Team for more information.

Can I continue to smoke at JCMCF?

JCMCF is a non-smoking campus compliant with the State of Michigan and federal smoking regulations. There is no smoking inside JCMCF or on the campus.

Please note: Our home can not be responsible for valuable personal items.

We recommend leaving valuables with family members or using the safe located on each Neighborhood. Please contact the Business Office if you would like more information.

If you do notice an item missing, please contact your Nurse Manager or Social Worker on your Neighborhood. They will begin the process of (hopefully!) locating your missing item.

If you would like to begin the process yourself, please click here to print a Property Incident Report. These forms are also available at each Nurses Station, at the Front Desk, and near the main elevator.

You may email the form to info@jcmcf.com or return the form to the black box near the elevator labeled ‘Property Incident Forms’.

I have a concern - whom should I contact?

We aim to please! In fact, all our efforts are geared toward making your life at Jackson County Medical Care the best it can be. Sometimes, though, we may fall short of your expectations. When we do, we want to know so we can do our best to remedy the situation.

Please contact your Nurse Manager or Social Worker on your Neighborhood. They will be the best place to start!

If you don’t feel that your concern has been resolved to your satisfaction, please click here to print a Resident Grievance Form. These forms are also available at each Nurses Station, at the Front Desk, and near the main elevator.

You may email the form to info@jcmcf.com or return the form to the black box near the elevator labeled ‘Grievance Forms’.

When we exceed your expectations, we want to know that, also. This lets us know what we have done well so we can continue making you smile.

For our Families & Friends:

Are there designated visiting hours?

We encourage our visitors to be aware of a Resident’s physical condition when visiting. A Resident may require more rest and relaxation than previously needed.

Due to COVID restrictions, JCMCF continues to follow all CMS, Federal, and State guidelines regarding visitation. Please see ‘New Visitation Info’ for the latest information.

Where do I park?

Visitor parking is designated in the Main Parking Lot near the front. Parking can be congested at times. If you have trouble finding a parking spot, please notify the Front Desk Team.

Text Messages from JCMCF

JCMCF uses a texting and voice messaging service to relay important information (including Care Conference appointments) to our families. If you previously opted out of these messages and would like to receive them again, please text ‘UNSTOP’ to (517)782-8500. You will receive a confirmation text from JCMCF.
